Seeing Matt Rife in Denver

Seeing Matt Rife in Denver: A Planning Guide

Spread the love

Denver has become a regular stop for comedians on tour. I’ve had the good fortune to check out the following tours: Trevor Noah, Hasan Minaj and Jim Gaffigan. They all were great in different ways but so far Hasan Minaj has been my favorite. Many comedians have begun picking Bellco Theater as the place for their shows and I think it’s a fantastic venue for comedy. It seats 5,000 attendees and is accessible by light rail. If you’re seeing Matt Rife in Denver and need some help planning-I’ve got you covered.

Don’t Have a Ticket Yet? Check Out Vivid Seats

I was unable to purchase a ticket in April 2023 because…I don’t like to commit to something that far out and then every show SOLD OUT in what felt like 5 seconds. Lots of things will happen between now and then so I know that tickets will be available as we get closer to April. Vivid Seats is a secure ticket reselling platform that I’ll be using to find my own tickets as well (unless I’m opt to side-hustle at Bellco Theater)

What Denver is Like in April

Matt has shared that he can’t stand Los Angeles or Atlanta (I saw the tweets) it’s my hope that he has a good time in Denver. Matt had 5 freaking shows sell out for his stop in Denver. Didn’t get a ticket? Don’t worry-I do have a solution for that because a lot can happen in a year and I plan on going too. April is a great time of year to visit Denver. But, I thought it would be a good idea to share what to expect and how to prepare for a trip to Denver in April.

This time of year is great because we’re coming out of winter and the late Spring/Summer busy season is just around the corner.

Where to Stay

I’ve included a list of hotels below. Play around with the map and click on the different hotels that I’ve listed. You can even book your hotel once you’ve figured out the best one for your visit.

How to Get Around Denver

If you’re sticking to Downtown Denver, you won’t need to rent a car and could instead walk around, use a Lyft or Uber or public transit. In fact, you can take the train from Denver International Airport directly to downtown Denver’s Union Station (the last stop) and easily make your way to hotels in Denver’s Downtown area. I’m not sure if the scooters will be out at that time, I think that they will be. One thing about the scooters-they are not supposed to be ridden on sidewalks.

I’m not a fan of the scooters.

We also have the Bustang system that expands transit access throughout the mountains and other parts of the state. If you’re traveling with a larger group then, it’s likely that you’ll need to rent a car.

What is Denver’s Weather in April

I hate to tell you this but Denver’s weather is all over the place in April. There could be snow, it could be warm and it can rain. Basically, you’re going to have to plan for several different weather scenarios that all could happen during the same day.

I’m serious.

If it snows though, don’t freak out because the snow at that time of year melts usually within a day. If you go to the mountains-there will be snow, but that’s great if you would like to add in a day of skiing. The slopes will still be open at many of the resorts as they typically close mid-April depending on snow conditions.

What to Bring

Because there are so many conditions that will factor into your trip such as weather and activities, you may have to pack more than you think.

What to Do

Things start to really pick up at this time of year. I’ll add more to this section as we get closer to April and more events are announced.

  • Love Country Music? Tim McGraw will be performing at Ball Arena on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
  • Attend the Colorado Rockies Opening Day-Friday, April 5, 2024
  • Head up to the mountains for a day of skiing.
    • Breckenridge
    • Winter Park
    • Eldora (closest to Denver) steep slopes

How to Plan a Day of Skiing

Ideally, you’re looking to hit the slopes between Monday-Thursday because the traffic is insane going up to the mountains during the weekend. I would also recommend adding a ski day to the end of your trip so that you have more time to acclimate to the altitude. You don’t want altitude sickness.

  • Go up the night before. Personally, I always try to get to the resort the night before so that I’m not stressed out on the road before hitting the slopes.
  • Pick a resort that is close to Denver if possible.
    • Eldora
    • Echo Mountain
    • A-Basin
    • Loveland
    • Breckenridge
    • Vail

You can rent your equipment at the ski resort, borrow from friends if you know people in Colorado or rent from a local shop such as such as REI or Wilderness Exchange.

Double-check transit options if you’re not driving up to the mountains. You can purchase a Pegusas or Snowstang ticket that provide service directly to the ski slopes (highly recommend).
