Before You Visit

I love these shops and they’re small businesses working hard to survive in this economy. My hope is that anyone reading this will do the following:

  • Spend money-Buy a delicious latte, seasonal drink and yummy item to eat.

  • Share-Let people know about your experience.

  • Return-Become a super fan of one of these wonderful spots across the Denver metro area

Don’t be the person who works for hours at a shop and not spend any money. Working from a coffee shop is less expensive than if you booked a day at a co-working space.

Get an External Battery for Your Laptop: Before You Go

I work from coffee shops several times a week and there are two items that I always keep on hand for a great work session.

  • An external battery-These are so helpful especially during the summer when I’m working from a patio OR working from a coffee shop that has a limited number of outlets to plug my electronics into.

Now that you’ve got your tech covered, it’s time to head over to one of the following wonderful coffee shops around town.

All is Well

I was walking down Colfax when I noticed the newly renovated All Inn Hotel. It was hot, I was sweaty-so, I went inside. I’m glad that I did because this place is a 60’s Mod fever dream with fantastic service and a great coffee menu.

Eastside Espresso

One of the qualities that I’m looking for in a coffee shop is “hospitality” that unknown quality that some spots just have. You know, the experience of wanting people to feel truly welcomed in their shop. Eastside Espresso is a lovely coffee shop that stood out to me for so many reasons ranging from fabulous hospitality, phenomenal coffee and Ethiopian food. Yep. It’s truly amazing and a great place to get some work done.

Queen City Collective (Aurora and Union Station Locations)

Here’s the thing, Queen City Collective has a number of locations across the Denver metro. I haven’t had to visit them all-but out of the ones that I’ve visited there are two that I absolutely love for quiet work sessions: the location a block and half from Union Station and the Aurora location which is lovely. If you’re writing a book-go to one of these spots and get your work done.

Vivid Minds Cafe

I wasn’t sure if I would like Vivid Minds Care because I’m not in the psychedelics space. However, I was wrong-Vivid Minds Cafe is so cute! It has a lovely patio to work from and the drinks are pretty amazing. What stands out at Vivid Minds Cafe are the specialty drinks, the friendliness and the decor.

Ollin Cafetzin

This is one of the best coffee shops and community spaces in Denver. And the tamales are fantastic. When I go to Ollin Cafetzin, I feel like I’m a part of their extended family. The drinks are phenomenal, the vibes are immaculate and I appreciate the care that the owners have taken to cultivate an activated community space through a unique cultural lens.

Roast Coffee Bar

This popular coffee shop is located in the West Wash Park Neighborhood. It’s the type of local coffee shop that gets “it” right. The team is welcoming, knows the regulars, are so kind and the coffee is great too. If you’re looking for a great patio work session with a great seasonal drink or a well-made coffee, Roast is a must visit.

Little Owl (Populus and Tremont Locations)

I feel like Little Owl is one of the sleeper hits in town that not enough people talk about-especially the locations that I’m sharing in this post. The Tremont Location is literally situated in the lobby of a business building, but it’s kind of sleek and sexy. There’s even a pretty large patio that you could work from. Or, you could go to the shop at the Populus Hotel. Just a quick head’s up, the seating area is upstairs. Little Owl does a fantastic job of curating tasty seasonal drinks. I typically love their Spring and Fall seasonal menus the most.

Bonus: Steam Espresso Bar

There are two locations, one in Platte Park and the other in the Highlands. Both are wonderful and both have fantastic patios. Another feature that many of the coffee shops in town don’t have is fresh pressed juice-Steam Espresso Bar makes some delicious fresh-pressed juices. My favorite location is the Platte Park one. I strongly encourage you to bring a external battery so that you can charge your laptop during a long work session.
