Latte with Puree

Where to Find the Best Lattes Using Real Puree in Denver, Colorado

Spread the love

Denver has a fantastic coffee culture. There are a ridiculous number of locally owned coffee shops, roasters and more across the city to enjoy. Each one has its own vibe, mood and focus on making the best cup of coffee possible for their customers. But, for this post, I had a different type of coffee experience in mind. I wanted to know where to find the best lattes using real puree in Denver, Colorado. For the past 6 weeks I’ve methodically made my way to different coffee shops in search of fall/winter lattes that are made with real puree. I’m sharing my discoveries with you and whether or not you should stop by one of these coffee shops or carts to specifically enjoy one of these lattes.

Cowtown Denver

Pumpkin Mestiza-Coffee Sarap

Technically, Coffee Sarap is a coffee cart that is usually found on the west side of town around Golden. Whenever they’re in the Denver metro area, I make sure to support this business. The drinks are fantastic and the Pumpkin Mestiza was amazing. It wasn’t too sweet and the flavor had a nice complexity to it that I really enjoyed. The owners of this business are so nice and I can’t wait for them to make their way back to my side of town again. However, the next time in their neck of the woods-I’m making sure to support them.

Yam Queen-Little Owl Coffee (Tremont Café)

How I missed that Little Owl Coffee had expanded post COVID and now has 3 locations is wild to me. What I loved about the Yam Queen is that I am a huge fan of yams and that I’ve never seen a yam latte in the United States. I appreciated the risk taking and it paid off. It was just sweet enough to excited the palate and the yam flavor was delicious. The Tremont location is my favorite out of the three because of how open the space is and where the actual coffee bar is located. There is a minimalist aesthetic and it still manages to feel welcoming because of the team members at that location.

Pumpkin Spice Latte-Weathervane Cafe

I’m low-key obsessed with the Weathervane Cafe now. After my visit I found myself wondering why it had been so long since the last time I’d visited (pre-COVID). The Pumpkin Spice latte was one of the best that I’ve ever had. Period. I also ordered an Italian Turkey sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in Denver. The bread and each ingredient was fresh and it was clear that the team at Weathervane spend a lot of time focusing on the quality of their food offerings.

Weathervane Cafe is a must visit for people who want a place full of good vibes, a retro aesthetic and no wifi

Sweet Potato Spice Latte-Huckleberry Roasters (Baker)

This location is warm, cheery and bright. Located in the Baker neighborhood on Broadway, I feel like it flies under the radar a little bit with all of the growth happening in that area. The Sweet Potato Spice Latte was so dang good. Like the other drinks on this list, it wasn’t too sweet but had a flavor complexity that had me savoring the drink and wanting to go back for more.

TBA-Sonder

In my view, Sonder has the best seasonal drinks all year around. In fact, it’s wild to me that they people don’t geek out about them as much as I think they should. I think the issue is that the original store is in Aurora (worth the visit) and that the second location is in Junction Food & Drink. It seems like there aren’t a lot of people who are familiar with that food hall north of that location. I’m working on this post a few days before their fall/winter seasonal menu drops. Sometime next week I plan on heading over and trying it out. I’ll keep you posted.

Where to Find the Best Lattes Using Real Puree in Denver, Colorado

I’m hoping that using real puree as an ingredient in lattes extends throughout the year into other seasonal lattes. Sonder, so far, is the one coffee shop that has a well-developed and active seasonal menu program that has me waiting for the new menu to drop as we go into each new season. Wouldn’t it be great to have a fresh strawberry matcha latte or something made with mango during the summer. Denver metro coffee shops-if you do start creating new lattes using purees, make sure to let me know.
