It is my view that June is likely the #1 month to visit Denver. It’s definitely in the top 3 months to visit Denver. Soon I’ll share what the other top two months to visit Denver are. June is just so much fun. There are a ridiculous number of festivals, concerts and shenanigans to be had literally every single day of the month. Every single day. There are so many things to do in Denver, Colorado in June 2024 that you’ll need a separate savings account so that you can plan for all the money you’re about to spend.

What is Denver’s Weather Like in June?

While I’m 100% convinced that June is one of the top 3 months to visit Denver, there is one teeny, tiny downside. The weather. June’s weather in Denver can be moody, cloudy and a little cooler than many people may want for a summer vacation. There can incredibly hot days, cloudy, cool and yes-it can still snow in the mountains and for a hour or so in Denver during June. Yes, you read that correctly. Bring layers, a since of adventure and plan on having a good time while you’re here.

Book That Tour

Summer high season is busy. If you’re thinking about adding a tour experience to your upcoming visit to Denver-consider booking that tour ASAP. Spots do sell out and you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got your spot.

Here’s Where to Stay

There are a wide variety of hotels to stay at that are a great fit for solo and car free travel. I also feel very comfortable recommending the three hostels listed below as a traveler who loves staying at hostels. The accommodation shared below are all within walking distance of Denver’s city center.

Travel Insurance is a Good Idea

Things can happen when visiting Denver. You may decide to scoot around town on one of the many scooters that you’ll find downtown (bad idea) or go rock climbing. Maybe you’re talked into go on an epic hike or you just plan on having a great time while you’re here. Then there’s possibility of unpredictable weather potentially impacting your flight. Spending a few extra bucks on travel insurance for your Denver trip is a good idea.

What to Do in June (General Comments)

June can feel really overwhelming because there are so many events and activities to enjoy. Many of those events also happen to be free. In fact, there are so many fun things to do that I begin planning what I’m going to do in June-several months before.

Festivals

I’m not sure why there are so many festivals in June. But, there’s a ridiculous number of incredible free experiences to be had every single week of June. I’ve shared several however I do know that there are several others that I haven’t listed.

Concerts

My wallet is already crying and I’m working on this post in March. There are so many concerts that I want to attend that I feel like I might need to side-hustle to pay for all of those tickets. Luckily, there are a number of free concerts that we can all enjoy as well.

Comedy and Theater

Don’t laugh, but I’m super excited about Frozen coming to town. I just hope that I can get the music out of my head quickly after seeing the show.

Sporting Events

One of the most amazing sporting experiences I’ve ever had was attending a soccer game in Argentina. It was WILD. When I tell you that I’m super excited about the MexTour-Mexico vs. Uruguay game being held in town I’m so serious. I’ll attend on my own too LOL!

Miscellaneous Activities to Enjoy

While I enjoy going on road trips throughout the year, June is a great time to explore the state. There are a couple of specific experiences that only happen at this time and are absolutely worth checking out.

  • Watch a Drive-in-Movie!! There are several drive-in-movie theaters across the state of Colorado. I strongly recommend attending at least one a summer because it’s such a beautiful and iconic experience to have.

  • Heading to Great Sand Dunes National Park to catch the Spring run off. That’s when the snow melts and creates a river that runs through the park. I strongly recommend reserving hotel or camping spots ASAP as they do get booked out quickly.

  • Lavender Festival in Palisade, Colorado-If you’re a fan of wine, riding bikes and enjoying the Western Slope then I highly recommend heading to the Lavender Festival. Book your hotel room ASAP as they book out fast.

Things to Do in Denver, Colorado in June 2024

I love, love, love enjoying the month of June in Denver. The vibes are immaculate, people are happy and there’s so much to do and enjoy. The problem most people will have is figuring out how to attend all of the events that they would like to attend.
