Friendliest Coffee Shops in Denver

Spread the love

Before I share my list of friendliest coffee shops in Denver, I want it to be clear that it’s an incomplete list. I’ve had the good fortune to visit and patronize shops all across the Denver Metro area and the state-but, I have visited all of them so your favorite local shop might not be on my list. In fact, share your favorite coffee shops with me so that I can add them to my ever growing list of places to visit as I plan my upcoming adventures across the state. That said, I spend a lot of time focused on what’s happening in Denver because I feel like it needs more love. So, here’s my (incomplete) list of the friendliest coffee shops in Denver.

Denver Coffee Shop Love

Before I share my list of friendliest coffee shops I do have some gentle requests. Please share your positive experiences with the different local businesses that you patronize. Word of mouth is a wonderful way to support small businesses.

Spend money while you’re at these coffee shops. Buy a coffee, a bag of locally roasted beans or a yummy pastry while you’re enjoying the shops. I know that whomever is reading this would absolutely be spending money while they visit the shops on my list…but, I’ve seen folks do the opposite so I just am making it clear that I want you to spend money and support these businesses.

Roast Coffee Bar

This is a new coffee shop that is open in the West Wash Park neighborhood across the street from the Whole Foods. There are a number of things that I love about this shop and I thought I would share a few.

  • Warm atmosphere-I’m talking about the interior, the music and overall vibes. There’s a front patio, wood floors and the music is consistently really, really good.
  • A truly welcoming team-One of the things that I’ve noticed at coffee shops across the Metro is that when the service is good it’s really good…when shops get busy-the service is the first thing to go. Roast Coffee Bar has the nicest team! They are attentive, focused, fun and knowledgeable about coffee.
  • Nice clientele-There are some shops that I don’t enjoy because of the clientele. These are spaces that I’ve visited more than once and the problem was always the clientele. I really like the people who patronize Roast Coffee Bar. They are people from the neighborhood, students from DU and people who’ve found out about the shop via Instagram.
  • Great place to work-I work online and that’s part of the reason why I find myself working at coffee shops so much. There are plenty of outlets for those of us who are looking to do some work.

Convivio Cafe

I absolutely love Convivio Cafe and I would visit it probably daily if I lived closer to it. There are so many things that I love about it and it’s one of the few coffee shops in town that my mom actually likes. Which is saying something.

  • Beautiful space-From the wooden floors to the windows, I love that it’s a warm and cozy spot with lots of sunshine streaming through the windows. And there’s a patio.
  • A true multicultural coffee experience-One of the complaints that I hear frequently about Denver is that it’s…not diverse LOL! And the byproduct of that lack of obvious diversity is a need for more spaces that are owned, curated and created by Denverites with uniquely lived experiences. Convivio Cafe is one of those spots that you need to add to your list and make a point of visiting. One of my favorite things about it is that it’s a multilingual experience (Spanish and English).
  • Food Offerings-One of my biggest complaints about most coffee shops is that all they offer are sweet things. Delicious, but sweet things. Like pastries, rolls and other breads. Convivio Cafe has both savory and sweet things to eat and I love it so much. You can eat yummy Central American snacks and they stand out because I’m so tired of burritos being offered everywhere.

Vibe Coffee and Wine

This shop has managed to make the lobby of a downtown building a bustling, busy and warm place to work from when you’re downtown. There’s even a fireplace fixture in the middle of the shop.

  • Welcoming staff-The team remembers the regulars names and are just nice to connect with/speak to. Random fact-Several of the team members speak Russian.
  • Awesome Cocktails-If you’re looking to enjoy a cocktail while you work they’ve created some delicious ones. My favorite is the Curtis Street Latte.
  • Pool Table-Yep, there’s a pool table in the shop that people enjoy while they’re in the shop.
  • Savory food-They have a pretty nice range of savory offerings ranging from salads, hand pies and breakfast sandwiches. Menus do change so that’s one thing to watch for.

Friendliest Coffee Shops in Denver

Denver is fortunate to have a huge number of locally run coffee shops. They not only focus on great coffee, but the other unspoken aspects of cultivating a coffee shop that is an inviting space that encourages community members to return again and again. I plan on adding a few more shops to this list as I discover and enjoy more coffee shops in town. Send me your recommendations!
