Things to Do in Denver, Colorado June 2025
Hands down, June is one of the best months to be in Denver. We’re solidly in summer fun season, there are a ton of free and low-cost events to be enjoyed and it’s still early in the summer tourist season. I’m especially excited to see the end of the 16th Street Mall renovation, how the downtown corridor will be reactivated and Denver continuing to ease back into “normal mode” If you’re from Colorado or are thinking about planning a visit, I feel like the following list of activities and experiences are a great starting point for enjoying the city and state this summer.

Book a Tour
If you’re a solo traveler, traveling with friends and hate driving-tours are a great way to experience a city. Denver is changing rapidly, so having a local guide to share more context and perspectives about the city and what to do while you’re here is a good idea.
If you’re interested in visiting the mountains, there is bus service to the mountains. However, I would book a tour if you’re on a tight turnaround or shorter trip to Denver.
Where to Stay
There are a number of great hotels located in Denver’s city center. I also think that all 3 of Denver’s hostels are a fantastic value and good locations for access to venues, etc. Here are some of the best hotels for your visit to Denver.
What Denver is Like in June
Ok, I’m going to break it to you now-Denver isn’t very hot in June. The weather is typically in the 70’s, we’ll still have the occasional cool day and one random afternoon where it snows for 2 hours. Don’t worry, if you’re visiting on that day-the snow melts quickly.
The mood of the city is relaxed, fun and it’s just a wonderful time to be in town. A couple of things to prepare for if you’re visiting Denver in June:
- Rapidly changing weather-Bring layers and you should be good!
- Your favorite Denverite may take you on some physical adventure, make sure to bring good shoes for roaming the mountains (just in case)
- Denver is a high altitude location-Familiarize yourself with the signs of altitude sickness and start hydrating before arrival (not medical advice)
- If you’re from a humid locale, prepare for the opposite experience. Denver is DRY! Bring lip balm, lotion and sunblock. Your skin will thank you.
Denver Fringe Festival 2025
I’ve always dreamed of going to Scotland to attend what I consider the “premier” Fringe Festival experience in the world. Right now travel is expensive, so I’m excited to have the opportunity to enjoy an epic Fringe Festival experience here in Denver.
Denver Chalk Art Festival 2025
Hands down, the Denver Chalk Art festival is one of my absolute favorite events of the year. I love that creatives are able to share their art and that we can walk around and enjoy it. For free! The new location located in the Golden Triangle provides the perfect amount of space for people to walk around, eat food and there’s typically plenty of seating in front of the band stage for those of you who would like to relax and listen to some good music.
Juneteenth 2025
I grew up knowing about Juneteenth because it had been celebrated in Denver my entire life. Imagine my surprise when I went to college out East and people didn’t know what it was. I realize now that it totally makes sense that I was familiar with this important celebration and cultural observance of the day that Texas received official notification of the Emancipation Proclamation-formally enslaved Americans were free. Colorado being basically directly above Texas means that there are a lot of families that have shared familial experiences. Denver’s Juneteenth celebration is a whole vibe. Denver is one of the top cities to visit for a fun Juneteenth experience.
Denver Pridefest 2025
About a month before I wrote this post I was randomly scrolling through Threads. On there I noticed a post where someone mentioned that they had a long layover in Denver and wanted help knowing what to do while in town. They also mentioned that they were nervous because they were in the LGBTQ community and were worried about being safe in town. Denverites rose to the occasion and reassured this person that they would have an incredible time while visiting and that they would be fine. I say all this to share that Denver has one of the largest Pride festivals in the United States. If you’re thinking about attending book that ticket and have fun.
Film on the Rocks
One of my absolute favorite things to do is to watch a film at Red Rocks. My all time favorite movie experience was watching Black Panther with a sold out crowd of 9,000 other attendees under a full moon at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Your butt might be a little numb, but you’ll have a great time. There’s also typically a comedian, cartoon and some other type of performance. Totally worth the price of admission.
Concerts
Denver ranks (in my view) in the top 10 best American music cities to visit. Don’t believe me? Read the following post. There’s a ton of free, low-cost and top end music to be enjoyed all year long. I especially love Levitt Pavilion, a venue that doesn’t get enough shout-outs. It’s actually a non-profit and hosts a ton of free concerts where you can upgrade to VIP seats. If you’re looking to enjoy random music on the street, bands on patios and awesome music venues-book your next dreamed about concert experience in Denver.

Sporting Events
For a city that is super sports friendly, June is not as event heavy as most months. Basketball, football and hockey have all ended their seasons (unless we’re in the playoffs).

How to Enjoy Denver in June
As I mentioned before, June is one of my absolute favorite months of the year to enjoy Denver. Don’t plan too much and be open to having an adventure. Ideally, in visit to Denver at this time of year have the following core components: City fun + unique experience (concert, etc) + Nature component (head to the mountains) + A tour (leave the driving to someone else) and local experiences such as enjoying lunch at Civic Center Park during Civic Center Eats. Or, sipping your way through the various seasonal menus at coffee shops across town.
