Let's Go Shopping in Breckenridge

Let’s Go Shopping In Breckenridge, Colorado

Spread the love

I love going to the mountains. I especially love going to Breckenridge, lovely mountain town located about 2 hours west of Denver and about 40 minutes from Vail…when the weather is good.

When the weather is good, going up I-70 is a somewhat congested, slightly irritating drive through the mountains with the occasional big horn sheep sighting. And yes, every single time I see wildlife I along the road I get excited…as long as they don’t jump in front of the vehicle that I’m riding in.

The last time I went to Breckenridge were fighting against mother nature. The weather was awful and a storm was brewing. Since it was a day trip I was hoping that we could make it up there in one piece and then return before the storm hit.

Wasn’t going to happen.

Breckenridge Snow

I was taking a group up that day and the skies were dreary. Dreary in a way that doesn’t happen often in Colorado. Thank God! Grey, stormy, and misty. The storm wasn’t just a threat anymore, it was a promise.

Finally, after a couple of hours of driving we reach Breckenridge, one of my favorite places to visit in Colorado. On a sunny, snowy day it’s like a ski town postcard: you see the ski trails (runs) along the mountain designed with gorgeous precision, people walk through the streets holding their snowboards behind their backs, and kids through snowballs at one another.

It Was Going To Snow

A moody grey sky that was going to unleash snow on us sooner than later. Since it wasn’t a ski trip, but an exploring trip I told the group about the many restaurants, shops, and the beautiful river walk just off the Main Street.

I decided to go “shopping” which really meant looking and  went to three of my favorite shops and I think they could become your favorites too! So, let’s go shopping at a few of the fantastic shops that are on Main Street.

First, Valley Girl

Valley Girl is a bit like it’s name a little bit of So Cal but mixed with Colorado flavor. They have a great collection of coats, some items from Desigual a Spanish company (hard to find in the States), locally made jewelry, and all items in between.

I’ve visited so often that I am recognized by the nice lady who is usually there and greeted warmly.  Since I was preparing to go to Australia I really didn’t need to pick up anything that day, but I always love looking.

Next Stop: Beloved

I love this store. The layout of the store is bright and open, there are wooden floors and all of the gorgeous details that you would imagine a super posh store having. The clothes are a little less whimsical, but stunning in quality and design. If Angelina Jolie were to hang out in Breck, I imagine her shopping at this store.

Finally, Vintage Sweet and Chic

Sadly, they don’t have live website but if you go to Yelp you’ll find their information. I wouldn’t consider this a vintage store, so if that’s what you’re looking for…you basically won’t find it. BUT, if you want fantastic jewelry, lovely coats, cool ass tops, and candy this is the place for you. I really love visiting this store because I always feel like there is a surprise waiting for me to discover.

I had a great day window shopping and even though we had to deal with whiteout conditions on the way back home I love going to Breckenridge and I think you will too!
